Happy 42nd Birthday to Disney Worlds Peoplemover

I can’t begin to tell you how much I adore this ride. Like most Disney World fans out there, I have been traveling to Walt Disney World yearly for most of my life. I have some very special connections with many of the rides at the Magic Kingdom but one imparticular that always brings a tear to my eye is PeopleMover. I have very fond memories of riding PeopleMover with my Grandpa when I was too small to ride Space Mountain. My Grandpa died 17 years ago but I always feel his presence and can picture him sitting in the blue seat across from me when I ride that very special ride.

Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover was formerly known as WEDWay Peoplemover from 1975 to 1994 and Tomorrowland Transit Authority from 1994 to 2010. It is located beneath Astro Orbiter in Tomorrowland in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort. It’s themed as a mass transit system of the future and takes people on a tour of the 2nd floor of many attractions in Tomorrowland. It is also the last remaining ride in the Magic Kingdom that still has a corporate sponsorship, Alamo Rent a Car. Kodak ended their sponsorship for Mickey’s Philarmagic in 2012.

Other attractions in Tomorrowland include Space Mountain, Monsters Inc Laugh Floor, Astro Orbiter, Buzz Lightyear Spin, Carousel of Progress, Stitches Great Escape and Tomorrowland Speedway.
